This standard deals with the improvement of organizations in the management of energy risks concerning potential impacts and reinforces the competitiveness of organizations and lessens the vulnerability in terms of energy price fluctuation and availability of energy. It supports the development of an energy policy and contributes to the structure of an energy plan to achieve targets in addition it facilitates engagement (commitment and agreement) of management and has a positive contribution towards the energy targets.
ISO 50001 has some advantages including a significant improvement of the energy performance level from an initial energy baseline and a systematic approach leading to continuous energy efficiency improvement.
